Restricted & Prohibited Cargo

What must be declared, what requires review, and what cannot move by air.

Last updated August 1, 2026

1. You must declare dangerous goods

Air cargo is subject to strict dangerous-goods rules. Every quote request includes a declaration step. Answer it honestly — if you are unsure, select “Not sure” and we will review it with you. Undeclared dangerous goods can be refused, offloaded, delayed and reported to the relevant authorities, at your cost.

2. Always requires review before acceptance

  • Lithium or sodium batteries, whether shipped alone, installed in equipment, or packed with equipment.
  • Fuel, fuel-contaminated equipment, aerosols, compressed gases and chemicals.
  • Dry ice — a Class 9 dangerous good (UN 1845) commonly used for temperature-controlled cargo.
  • Magnetized material.
  • Paints, adhesives, solvents and other flammable liquids.
  • Machinery, vehicles or engines that have contained fuel or oil.
  • Perishables and pharmaceuticals with a temperature requirement.
  • High-value cargo requiring additional security or insurance.

If any of these apply, your request goes to a coordinator for manual review. We will not send automated options for that shipment.

3. Not accepted

  • Explosives, ammunition, fireworks and weapons.
  • Radioactive material.
  • Infectious substances.
  • Cash, bearer instruments and precious metals in bullion form.
  • Live animals.
  • Human remains.
  • Cannabis and controlled substances.
  • Counterfeit goods or any item unlawful to transport.

4. Packaging and documentation

Regulated cargo must be packed, marked, labelled and documented to the applicable standard, and in some cases must be prepared by a certified shipper. We will tell you what is required before the shipment is tendered.

5. Your responsibility

You remain responsible for the accuracy of your declaration and for any fine, penalty, delay or damage resulting from misdeclared or improperly prepared cargo. See our Terms & Conditions.
